How to get a YouTube Premium Student Discount
Being able to watch YouTube without ads is great, but the privilege of downloading videos offline will set you back £11.99/$11.99 each month for a YouTube Premium subscription, which always seemed a bit high to us.
However, we have good news for students. If you’re pursuing a full-time college education, you should qualify for the YouTube Premium student plan, which cuts the cost by almost half to £6.99/$6.99 per month.

Who is eligible for YouTube Premium Student?
YouTube states that anyone currently enrolled in full-time higher education should be eligible for a student account. Verification is performed by the third-party service SheerID. So as long as your college or university is on the list, you should be good to go.
To confirm your student status, you must submit documents, which usually include an e-mail address for your educational institution, scans of your student ID and, if applicable, confirmation of enrollment.
Verification must be repeated each year of your membership (up to a maximum of four) or your account will revert to standard YouTube Premium.

How to get YouTube Premium Student
Go to the YouTube Premium website and click on the Family or Student Plan option.
You will see the Student listing along with a button with the title Try it for free. At the time of writing, YouTube is offering a one-month free trial of the service so you can see if it works for you. So, to start setting up your account, click the button.
One thing to note. If you already have a YouTube Premium account, you must cancel it before you can use the student plan.
Next, a pop-up window will appear warning you that you will be redirected to the SheerID site for verification purposes. click Continue Continue.
Now you need to fill out the form to confirm your student status. click Next to get to the stage where you may need to upload your documents for SheerID to review them. When this is done, click Submit and the validation process begins.
YouTube says it should confirm this immediately, but if there’s a delay, expect to get your confirmation within 24 hours in the US and up to 48 hours in other countries.
If confirmation is instant, the next step is to just enter your payment details and then click Obtain button to finish setting up your account.
If you have to wait for SheerID to complete the verifications, return to your YouTube account after verification, click and select the profile icon Paid Memberships. You should see a notification asking you to finish setting up the student plan, so follow the instructions and you’re good to go.
