How to join Twitter Spaces
Back in 2020, Twitter launched Spaces in response to the growing live audio format popularized by apps like Clubhouse.
Spaces have no time limit, no audience limit, and can support up to 13 speakers at a time, including the moderator and two co-moderators.

How to join Twitter Spaces
When Spaces first launched, users had to be logged into a Twitter account to use the feature. While this is no longer required now that users can share Spaces via links, you’ll still have a much easier time finding a Space to join if you’re logged in, since Twitter keeps the Spaces your friends have joined are highlighted in your feed.
How to join a Twitter Space on iOS or Android…
What you will need:
- An iOS or Android device with the Twitter app installed
- You can also use a PC to join, but you can’t create your own Spaces this way
The short version:
- Find a room
- Tap on the space
- Click Start Listening
- Discover features like emoji reactions and requests to speak
- Leave the room when you’re done listening – done!
How to join Twitter Spaces

Find a space to join
You can find Spaces linked in Tweets, in your DMs, or in a purple circle at the top of your timeline. You can also see a longer list of active Spaces in the Spaces tab at the bottom of your feed.

Tap on the space
This gives you a preview of the hosts and who is listening.

Tap Start Listening
You just joined a space. You can stop here if you want!

Tap the Guests icon to see who else is in the space
This will show you a full list of hosts, co-hosts, speakers, and listeners.

Choose whether you want to see subtitles
To turn subtitles on and off, tap the three-dot menu, choose Customize settings, and select Show subtitles.

Tap the Request to Speak icon
The request icon looks like a microphone. Click here and wait if you want permission to speak in someone else’s space.

Tap the heart icon to send reactions
Tap the icon to see the five emojis you can use as reactions. These include a heart, a smiling face, clapping hands, a peace sign and a wave.

Tap the share icon at the top of the space to get a link to send to your friends and followers.

Tap Leave to leave the Space
When you’re ready to leave, click the red exit icon in the top-right corner.
