Connect your Chromebook to the internet

The first step in updating your Chromebook is to make sure you have it connected to the internet, be it via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

If not, either connect a network cable (if your Chromebook has Ethernet) or click on the clock in the bottom right corner, press the Wi-Fi icon and connect to your network by typing select its ID and enter the password.
Once you’re all connected to the internet, you’ll need to go into the Chromebook’s settings menu. To do this, go to the lower right corner of the screen and click on the settings bar. To get into the correct settings menu, press the gear icon.
Press “About ChromeOS”.

When you are in the Settings menu, you should find a hyperlink that says “About ChromeOS” in the options on the left. press it. It contains system information such as the version of ChromeOS you are currently using, hyperlinks to Google’s support site, or where to report a problem.
Select “Check for Updates”

Also in the About menu is a conspicuous blue hyperlink that says Check for Updates. When you click it, your Chromebook will check for new operating system updates and begin downloading and installing an update if one is available.

Once the update is complete, simply press “Restart” to turn your Chromebook off and on again. It should then turn back on and have the latest version of the operating system installed.
